Accessible Toilet Refurbishment Rock Mill Centre approached High Peak Access to give advice on improvements to their existing accessible toilet. The toilet is accessed from outside the Centre in the courtyard. We visited the centre and met with the volunteers who run the Centre and discussed the best way to improve the toilet design.
In order to provide for the internal dimensions needed to comply with British Standards, it was agreed that the existing space should be enlarged.
The Centre was able to secure funding for the work and employed a specialist firm to draw up plans and carry out the work. HPA were again consulted on the final design and we were able to offer some fine tuning.
The work has now gone ahead and the new toilet is in operation. We visited again to see the finished product and with a few ‘tweeks’, the toilet will provide much needed accessible facilities within the Centre and in New Mills.
